With their headquarters based in Germany, Aldi is now a discount global supermarket chain with a total of nearly 10,000 stores in 18 countries including Spain. There are 2 Aldi supermarkets in Torrevieja with a further 2 in the nearby area of Orihuela Costa. The one closest to the city centre is located on Av. De las Cortes Valencianas and the other can be found on Claudio Tolomeo 2 which is just off the main Av. Desiderio Rodriguez that runs past the salt conveyor on the way to Orihuela Costa. Speciality German products
The surprising thing about Aldi is the ever changing stock, which on one hand is great for variety and on the other can be disappointing when a product you like is no longer on the shelves. This does not apply to the majority of items which can be found at all times but more to their range of clothing, kitchen utensils and speciality German products which can change on a daily basis. Another factor which must be hard on the staff but is down right annoying for customers is that the checkout staff seem to have to multi task, in the sense that when customers arrive at a checkout, there is no staff because they’re somewhere in the store packing shelves or out in the warehouse ferrying goods to and fro.
